My son wrecked his GL 550 with new tires and nice rims, and I just picked up a low mileage GL 450 with cheap tires. I know there are plastic wheel arches on the 550. Anyone know if the 550 wheel/tire combo fits on the 450? If so, I'd swap them on before the car goes to the boneyard.

I’ve seen 450s with 550 wheels and it doesn’t look dumb. In fact, if I had a 550, I would try to remove the arches and the running boards as well as make the grill normal size.

try one on for size on the front wheel and see how it looks.

They should work fine if it's the same X164 chassis. I've got GL550 wheels/tires on my 320CDi and they are a tremendous upgrade in driving dynamics.
