New Safety Features for 2014 GL
As some might know the new 2013 GL comes with many safety features that the last generation did now have, unfortunetly it looks like those safety features are already old news as new safety features will be announced for the 2014 model year
Here is a list I compiled with the safety features of 2013 vs 2014.
2013: Pre Safe
2013: Distronic Plus
2013: BAS
2013: Adaptive Highbeam Assist
2013: No Eco/Start Stop
2013: Power Lift-gate (same as last gen)
2014: Pre Safe PLUS
2014: Distronic PLUS with Steering Assistant System
2014: BAS Plus (with Cross-Traffic Assist)
2014: Adaptive Highbeam Assist PLUS
2014: Eco Start/Stop
2014: Power Lift Gate can be opened by foot via sensor under the vehicle
Most of the safety features I listed above are from the 2014 E-Class which means they will definitely be on the 2014 model year.
There is more "new" safety features, but those are introduced on the 2014 S-class so I am not too sure if they will trickle down to the other models so soon.

It's good though MB keeps making updates for improvement. The sensor to open the tailgate is appealing. The eco start/stop not so much right now to me anway...

The sensor to open the tailgate will probably be on all models by 2015

2014 GL350 ordered
This would be nice as I've decided to wait for the 2014. I've killed so much time trying to find the best price to order mine I wouldn't get it 'til May at this point. I assume the new model will be out in Sept. again so I can wait the 4 months to get the 2014 model and hopefully the new goodies they'll add to it.

Verkr - you're conflicted buddy..
Verkr,
I understand your frustration - but you seem to have some conflicting objectives that you might to rehash with yourself:
1) The best "discount" will come from buying a in-stock inventory unit - if you remain focused on only your specific feature set - which will require a pre-order - then unless supply loosens up dealer discounts will be at a minimum and MB won't have any added incentives.
2) Mercedes incentives are based on delivery date - not order or production date - if there will be any chance of a mercedes incentive on the GL it will be June-July-Aug. Production does continue into June - if you are going to rooll the dice for possible MB incentive is will be going into late Spring.
3) Until supply opens up - frankly there is no reason for dealers to discount and/or Mercedes to add incentives. And right now in January there is nothing to indicate this tight supply will loosen anytime soon.
4) New model-1st couple of months production - early model year delivery - that's a ownership bonus - but again do not expect deep discount or added MB money.

Any idea when they'll start taking orders for 2014, around April perhaps?
