It can happen sometimes - it depends on how saturated the market is with the particular vehicle at lease end. The residuals on GL's are very strong and they dont typically get discounted at lease end.

To the original lease holder ? i have not seen MBFS do that with the original lease holder - the MB dealer can submit a "buy" offer to MBFS - which they may or may not accept if the buy-offer is what MBFS feels is in line with the market - and the MB dealer is required to certify (if under 75K miles) before "resale".
There are maybe 5% of original lease holders who choose to buy out - most retiree's who choose to keep, rather than change their vehicle..
The reason so many change is in 304 years you want something fresh - and of course the manuf/including MB has loaded more features into their newest vehicles.
