A gaggle of MB's
See, it is possble to accomplish good in the world.. on the Glanzwax, can't really muck it up think of it was a watery "sealant" and objective is a thin-even coat.. my recomendation for a 30 min cure time "locks" it.. it can act as a great base for "nano" carnuba light wax spray applications.. paint tech, especially with the new clear coats, has come a long-long way from the old buff-it-down days, and frankly detailer's haven't really caught up to it for new car MB finishes.

Keep the beat !

I'm having trouble between black or white. Leaning black on black. Love the white int but can't see how to keep it clean. Also wondering how hot black will get.

2021 GLS580 all black. 2014 GLK black (kids car). formerly: 2014 GL550 Palladium Silver (US)
Funny how it works, but to my eyes, the white looks cleaner in dirt than the black. We have cars from other manufacturers in both white and black.

Thank you for everyone's recommendations. I'm leaning toward Steel Gray, but will also take a look at the black and silver! I'll let you know what I decide:-)!

Hi! I'm back! So.....it turns out that the GL450 is a bit hard to find....so I may do a special order. I can do a special order now for a 2013 Spring delivery, or in the Spring for a 2014
Summer delivery. Any insiders know of any style, color, or option changes for 2014?

2014 GL450's 1st delivery will be no sooner than 1st week September, and latest 2nd week December.

The Dealer Guide for 2014 GL - which will be the accurate road map for 2014 features - most likely will be released mid-March.

Where are you located? My dealer in MSP appears to have a couple of 450's and a couple of 550's on their on-line inventory. This doesn't necessarily mean they are available, but their steel gray 450 has pictures in the dealership, which is a good sign it isn't sold.

Thank! I'm in the Philadelphia area. My dealer has a couple of colors coming in too-but I may have to compromise on color or options. I guess I just wonder if its worth waiting for 2014 at this point? We lease so depreciation isn't a factor in waiting for 2014....

Well I ordered because I had particular requirements so nothing wrong with that.

Fabs is the master, if he says you won't see a 2014 until Sept/Oct, you can believe him.

My experience in the model year changes within a model (X166) won't be dramatic. Sometimes there will be changes in what's in each package (P1, P2). We've seen subtle changes like changes to side mirrors. I would guess that the 2014 will not be exactly the same, but close. Of course 2014 will bring new pricing. Given the high demand, I wouldn't expect the price to go down.

A gaggle of MB's
GL stock remanins quite "thin" and will continue to be "thin" or even "thinner" going thru the balance of MY2013. Right now very-very scarce GL550's are almost as scarce as G550 G-Wagens. GL450's are not quite as scarce, but dealer trades are actually quite low specific feature sets particular customers want (colors, options, etc) are not on the ground anywhere within a reasonable distance, and most are choosing to commit to build-to-order gratefully.

Normally, the factory will start setting up one line for MY2014 in June, the remaining lines will continue to produce MY13 all the way up to July 4th/Summer Break, then when they come back from that early-July break they will convert the remaining lines to MY14 - so yes, technically there will be a significant number of MY2014 produced in July - but then what happens is MB will not release any MY2014's to shipping until they have stockpiled enough so all MB dealers can get start/some at the same time - that "shipping release" or "push" happens that way so ideally no dealer in any particular area gets a significant leg up to other dealers in their same area - shipping release "should" happen like hair-before/near end-August.

So the dealer "info" you got I think was earnest - except no dealer really wants to get into the part where July produced MY2014's will be held back - and to admit no one other than MB is in control for the shipping release.

You are thinking of all the right things - keep the faith !
