Net barrier between back seats and cargo area

Does the same type of barrier exist for the 2013 model that existed for the 2012 model? Or is there something else Mercedes offers to prevent cargo that is stacked up above the seat backs from flying forward in a crash?

This is the cargo barrier I'm speaking of...

Sorry to use someone else's link...

I have not seen one yet. I use it to keep the dogs in the back.

Cargo and Pet Barrier

I had a GL 2010, with a great cargo barrier that slotted into the ceiling and attached to tie downs in the cargo area. Great for keeping dogs and heavy stuff in the back. We replaced our 2010 with a GL 350 2013 this spring. The Mercedes Benz website shows that there is a cargo net barrier, but when we took delivery, the salesman said it was not available yet, but would be in 2 weeks to 2 months. We have since learned that it is still in the development stages and will not be available in the foreseeable future. Personally, I would not have bought this vehicle if I had known the cargo barrier was not available. I have not been successful in locating an aftermarket solution. I am not interested in a metal barrier, as I understand they may be dangerous in a crash; think of broken metal flying through you vehicle..............

Has anyone found an aftermarket net-type barrier to net off the cargo area?

I'm ready to ditch this vehicle and replace it with a sedan, where a trunk can safely store items and my dogs can wear harnesses attached to car seatbelts! What do you think the trade in value might be foe my GL?!?!?!?

Very Disappointed

Me too very disappointed that not available in 13. Had 08 and 11 and loved this option. Worked perfect for long trips with cargo and the dog. Why in the world would the mess with something that worked. Come on Benz.. Instead of focusing on the command or the Rear Entertainment they focus on a cargo divider that actually worked flawless. No success finding another solution yet. I have until August before i need to figure something out....or will have to take less stuff to the beach. ugh...

Any updates? I have a 2012 GL450 with this barrier and love it but just purchased a newer GL550 and need a similar solution.

Pet barrier by weather tech is the best solution out there. I have not tried it yet but saw one in a gl the other day looked fine.

Mercedes ML-Class
I've got this Pet Barrier in my ML-Class. It had to come all the way from the UK, but it's the best one I've found.
