You can always upgrade... I can hardly wait for my GL to see it with the designo. Looking at pictures every day. This is exactly what I'm getting:

From what I saw Designo seems to be a higher quality leather, so I think its not just looks its better quality as well, btw I asked my dealer and they said they charge for the leather and designo so it would be $6800 total ( in Canada)

So I guess my dealer wasn't misinformed on that. Thank you for confirming that. Because the first time they quoted, they just had the designo package for $4,800, and then later they updated and the leather package magically appeared, adding another $2,000 to the quote.

I would say to fight it but if you read the fine print it actually says they can make changes to the order. Designo looks stunning, you will not be disappointed

weathertech mats + rear cargo mat/tray, the mats dont cover all parts from salt so I have had to use the "ghetto" method of putting white towels underneath them

this one you can see the dirty towel spot where the left foot rest would be uncovered without the towel.

2014 GL350BT
I just ordered a 2013 GL350BT Black/Beige Leather, P1, Tow Hitch, Lane Change Assist, 3-Zone A/C, Panorama Roof, Rear Entertainment.

Delivery is end May early June (fingers crossed).

So, not that I will change anything on my order, what are your thoughts about Obsidian Black vs Black, and 19" wheels vs 20"?

Those are the only reservations I have had about this vehicle, besides the sticker price!

I dont know about the colour choices other than any dark shade is hard to clean( but you already knew this) but the difference between 19's and 20's is very very minimal, I had 18s on my 08 and 21s now and I notice very little difference. one of the sales guys I spoke to told me 5% harsher per every inch you go up but I think its well below 5% ( he was guesstimating)

I had read several reviews where folks thought the 19" were a better ride. I did ask a question on another forum (they must be dead over there) about the standard tires on the GL350. Are the RFTs or not? I hope not.

I had my RFTs replaced on my BMW 335D and am much happier with the ride. I can certain see where some folks would prefer to not have to change out a flat, but for me it is very infrequent and no big deal.

As far as I know for 2013 none of the GL's come with the run flats, mine came with Pirelli all seasons.

I have had 3 punctured tires from 5 cars in the last 15 years so I find no use for run flats what so ever

Welcome to the forum!

I've had black in an ML500 a few years back, and now Obsidian on my GL350. I personally like the metallic of the Obsidian, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker on either color. They are very close to each other.

I have the 20" wheels. I liked the rims better. I had 19" on my 2007. I haven't noticed much difference so far.

MBs
both blacks are nice, though in my opinion obsidian looks better, nice effect..
you really wont feel a big difference in 19s or 20s, the tire width is the same... go with the 20s, looks nicer and appearance package makes a pretty significant difference as well..

2013 GL450 (traded for 2015 Escalade), 2012 Corvette, 2014 Ford Fusion, Previous: 2007 GL450, 2011
My previous GL was Obsidian.....I loved the look of that , particularly when the sun hit it! Seemed to add a sense of "depth" the blackness!

Tires & wheels? 19"s will give you a softer ride and ultimately more replacement choices. As I have said before..... 20"s and up are all about looks and at the expense of ride and performance ( water, snow, etc!)
