GL350 BT Checkout...

Hi guys,
Ordered a GL350 BT 1 1/2 months ago from Arizona...dealer told me today it has been built this weekend (as expected...) and awaiting rail.

How long would you say for delivery to west coast?

Also, is there anything I should look for/ask upon checkout of the car. I don't want to miss anything.

Pertinent extras... 3rd row A/C (Req'd here in the desert!), Power Fold 2nd Row, P2 Package, Heated Steering wheel, Massage Seats, Distronic Plus, Lighting package.

Thanks for your help

A gaggle of MB's
In the desert get 3M Crystalline tint - available from clear up to limo tint.. the GL glass is great .. but the Crystalline cuts over 90% of the remaining.. some of my "hotter" customers use clear for inside the windshield... takes 5 full days to "dry" and settles down fine... GREAT stuff... do a google and from their website you can find a authorized/trained installer....

Before accepting delivery, in the service dept ask about a-la-carte pricing for 10K service without AdBlue (you can top off on your own before that service for like $15 with Peak Diesel Exhaust Fluid), and for pricing on 20K service including the diesel fuel filter and again NOT including AdBlue... 30K service is standard A service...

That way you can compare that a-la-carte total (10K+20K+30K) to confirm that you will come out ahead that way as compared to prepaid 30K service for the diesel.

Do NOT consider a 40K, or 40K+ prepaid service - the current price schedule still includes a 40K tranny service where the new 7G+ tranny you have doesn't require service before 70K - or so we think at the moment.

Also check delivery tire pressures - should start off at 40 psi - try that for a few weeks then you can reduce to 38 psi for a couple of weeks to see what you like best.

Go on Amazon and order Einszett Glanzwax (which is a sealant) for like $20 - great wipe-on-wipe-off stuff - blue top can not green - enough for 3-4 applications - best to apply when new/fresh...

Download/save pdf Owners Manual and pdf COMAND Center manual from mbusa.com .

See other threads about Brake Hold feature - does a bit more than you suspect and adds to driving experience.

Also do a search for "paddle passing procedure" another thing to explore to add to a smoother driving experience...

If you have a newer Android phone - recheck your phones instr so you know how to make phone BlueTooth "discoverable" for sync to the MB - some of the newer Android releases are a little bit different procedure for setting up a new BlueTooth link.

With Keyless Go I would choose to replace remote/FOB batteries on delivery - the Mercedes Indonesia/China batteries are sh*it.

Order a 5 pack Maxell CR2025 Japanese lithium thru Amazon for under $3 delivered - order now - bring them in with you and have your sales guy switch the batteries out on delivery - for free, and he can show you how its done for future reference - that way you have good remote/Fob batteries from the start - and you still have 3 as backup down the road - 5 yr shelf-life.

Decide about any added mats before you get there for delivery - the MB trays are WeatherTech re-branded - and often on delivery you can get those "thrown into the deal" for free - versus if you decide you want them later then you will pay out-of-pocket for sure..

You wanted to know about misc stuff like that - right ?

Fab - Fantastic info! Thank you. As a brand new GL350 owner you have given me a number of the pro tips I was wondering about - especially service deals / AdBlue.

AdBlue is MB brand for DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) - and with the AdBlue tank you normal "range" before low AdBlue light is around 12K miles - and if you hit that point you have about 2K-2.5K miles reserve.

So, 10K service interval fits perfectly - this is a exhaust fluid so absolutely-positively no added value to keep it "topped off" like engine oil.

You can refill yourself - like $15 for 2.5 gallon toteable container with built-in spout. Some buy 1 MB bottle - and use that empty MB bottle as a spout-for-the-spout to prevent spillage...

Best "topped off" before you take to service so service can reboot the AdBlue sensor to show refill if necessary..
