PLEASE BE CAREFUL
13 GL450 P2 with keyless go
The engine is off.
Baby was sitting in the carseat.
Mom was sitting next to the baby in the 2nd row waiting for the nanny who was picking up something in the grocery store.
Mom saw the nanny coming out from the store, key in the purse on the passenger seat.
She got out from the 2nd row, close the door and then the car suddenly locked her out.
Baby was still inside the car, also the purse and the key.
Called 911, 30 min after, firefighter came and also the roadside assistant came at the same time.
Malfunction?
everything works fine after.

I didn't think the car would lock with keys in the car, so that must be the first malfunction? And then to make things worse, the doors wouldn't open from touching the door handles to be the 2nd malfunction? Very strange.
This doesn't help the malfunction, but might provide a quicker solution. Was mbrace able to help with the unlock? Hopefully you've downloaded the mbrace app for both of you and your nanny's phones or at least store the mbrace 800 number on the phones. Could unlock in minutes.

2012 GL550, 2012 E550
Something like this happened to me in our 2012 GL550. Coming back from pool, key in pool bag. I opened the rear lift gate to put the bag and towels in the car then hit the close button. Car never unlocked and wouldn't unlock with the key now in the car. Very frustrating. Didn't think this could happen. Lucky for me I am an mbrace member and after a phone call they remotely unlocked the car. Would have sucked even worse if I was in the middle of nowhere because my phone and wallet were in the bag also. So make sure you touch a door handle to unlock the car first before closing the tailgate.

only way it couldve happened was if car was locked prior to exiting- otherwise it should NOT lock with the key inside- it displays a message saying 'key detected in vehicle'
and yes mbrace will remote unlock in 1-2 minutes- with kids its def an app worth downloading and keeping..
