MB charges more for the extended warranty on the diesel version than the gas versions. It would definitely add credibility to your data if you seperated by engine type and repair/maintenance costs. There is no doubt after seeing the frequency and cost of repairs on the diesels over the last 10 years that they are more expensive to maintain and repair than the gas models.

With the current number of participants if we tried to provide separate results for gas and diesel we'd have no stats at all for the X166. If we had enough participants I'd be happy to split them.

Please join. This is a good site. I've contributed for a long time to truedelta.com. They need more participants to make the data significant. Though it may or may not help you after you purchased the car but it will help others that are thinking about getting a GL. It could help you in that it will bring publicity to some of the common issues and pressure MB to fix or recall the vehicles.

Thanks for putting a good word in. I'd love to have more people participating for the GL, so we could provide better information on it.
Also, while people might not need information on the car they already own, they might be interested in information on a different car they're considering. If everyone contributes information about the cars they have, then information will be available to everyone on all models.

We've updated our reliability stats for the GL to include owner experiences through June 30, 2016. Reliability information elsewhere is based on a survey conducted in April 2015--well over a year ago.
Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year (lower is better):
2015 GL: 68, high, very small sample size
2014 GL: 43, moderate, small sample size
We'll have further updates in November and next February. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.
