hitch mounted carriers question
now that ive ordered a gl, i have decided to take the whole tribe cross country in it.
it is significantly smaller than my denali, so i need to figure out a way to haul more crap.
Do any of you have experience with an enclosed hitch mounted carrier? Im looking at the Thule Transported 665C.
Any help is appreciated!

For bikes went with the thule Vertex 4 Bike Hitch Rack and the largest cargo box MB makes and that is all we have so if it don't fit in the back or in the box it doesn't go.

I looked at that Thule a couple of years ago and ended up getting a large hitch mount mesh rack. I also picked up a large bag that fits perfectly in the rack. I can fit a lot more stuff in the bag on the rack but the only downside is you can't secure it like the Thule. I have a large Thule evolution carrier for the top that i can lock if need be.

I have the Thule hitch hauler. I will say it is made well but has a few short comings. First- it only bolts to the hitch, it can't accept a through pin/lock which is a big downside for me. The unit itself hinges way too far down on the cargo box. The rear is 2/3rds top section 1/3rd bottom. What that means is you can't pack it. You have to load it perfectly stacked since things will fall out if you don't. I wanted a box that you could shove stuff into the corners. Forget that. I don't need the lights and massive wire that comes with it, the tail lights are fully visible. The upside is the gate can fully open when the Thule is closed and in the upright position.
