AC stopped working...

My wife called earlier today and was laughing because she had the windows down while driving in 90+ F weather. She had tried the simple things, shutting off the car and allowing it to reset.... Still no AC. She arrived home and I gave it a shot - no good. Later, +/- 2 hrs, we jumped in and the AC started to work. Anyone else experience this? She has scheduled an appointment and I encouraged her to go ahead and take the vehicle in. I should point out that the AC was not responsive, no fan.... We've had a few other quirky things; back-up camera randomly doesn't work, hesitation or lack of power while in reverse, and now the AC issue. Vehicle is a 2013 GL550 (April build).

I have seen "sporadic" AC issue on one other GL550 - I "think" my guys ended up replacing the whole COMAND unit in the long run.. I'll try to remember to ask them what was the resolution

It happened to me once -
Ac controls totally blacked out and inoperable while everything else was working. Finally after about 2 min the fan came on like nothing had happened before.

I experienced a total Comand failure on day 6 of ownership. They managed to update the Comand system and get it working without having to do a full replacement but then the ac thing happened so I'm sure it's still a little buggy. My ac has been fine since that incident though.

ive had the A/C thing couple times- both after starting and immediately turning it on-- came on by itself within a minute both times- i think its some delay in the circuit/wiring ..

I checked with my guys - the issue was the entire climate control would stay - "dead" sporadically upon startup - and in this particular case this was a garaged car - no extreme temp - they told me their solution was to wipe and reinstall the climate control control/software from Star system which takes about 2 1/2 hrs on the Star system for the download reinstall from MB.

Hope this helps..

My wife picked up her GL550 from the local MB service dept. They did find a fault for the back-up camera and performed a software upgrade. The AC issues registered no faults. A software update was performed regardless. We'll see if the problem(s) returns. Wife was very complimentary of her SA.

2014 GL 350 Bluetec
Today was the 2nd time in my '14 GL 350 that the A/C wasn't working. The first time it happened I thought I was going crazy and pressed all the buttons and nothing. This was right after i started the car. It worked after about 30 seconds. Today, same thing and worked after about 30 seconds. Both days were hot. 90 degrees. Not sure of the deal and if I should do what Fab said and reinstall he climate control software.
