Biodiesel

We're not supposed to put anything greater than 5% bio fuel in our Bluetec motors and I'm wondering in which states it's a problem to find diesel #2 or less than 5% bio fuel. I know that Illinois is a real problem, but I can't find out where else finding good fuel may be an issue. If anyone knows of states where finding #2 or <B5 is an issue, please post it here. Thanks.

For anyone fueling up in Illinois, you may wish to check out this map showing where you can get <B5 in Illinois: https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=U...50faa8ddb6b1f5

Does anyone have any information about states other than Illinois where it's hard to find diesel #2 or <B5?

Minnesota has a mandate that requires 20% bio in the summer months. It has yet to be enacted.

Hmmm. Not getting much response here.

Let's try it this way: for those of you who live outside of Arizona or Illinois, please let me know in what state you live and if you have any trouble getting diesel #2 or biodiesel <B5. I'm especially interested to know about Midwestern states. Thanks.

I found this site where you can look at states of interest:

http://www.afdc.energy.gov/fuels/laws/3251

You might also want to try the diesel forum on mbworld, it might get more than GL 350 owners.

Thanks for the info and link. I didn't know about the diesel forum. I posted there and am hopeful of getting some good information.

Different country so perhaps different fuel, bio diesel can be way cleaner than 'dino'diesel'. I mean, after all, it is what the engine was actually designed to run on!

But bio-diesel also can be know to clean out you fuel system. This is good in the long term, but bad when you first try it as what you have accrued in the fuel system from the 'dino-diesel' will suddenly all make its way to combustion is a short time.
