NAV functions disabled while driving
I just upgraded from a 2012 GL450 to a 2014 GL450 and the ability to interact with the NAV through the control knob on the command system is disabled when the car is moving above a certain speed. Interestingly, the stereo and the phone system are not hampered at all. Go figure!
Therefore the only way to operate the nav while driving is to use the voice controls. This is going to take some practice. Are there any tips to find places by name, like "find nearest mcdonalds" or "find nearest post office" etc.?
I understand the need for safety, but the nav unit was never that distracting IMHO.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Manual input is no longer allowed in motion - Federal thing - experiment with your own voice control "short cuts" - "point of interest" 1st - then drill down from there..

I called MB usa and they confirm that they did not include post offices as points of interest in the nav unit. Even my $60 garmin can do that. Very frustrating.
