Diamond white paint
I have just taken delivery of a new GL350 sport AMGEN, when I ordered the car I decided to go for diamond white because it looked better than the flat white.
When I got the car I noticed that the diamond white appears to be just a spray over on top of standard white, and not a very good one, they haven't even painted the door pillars etc. so when you open a door is clearly shows the colour difference.
Has anybody else noticed this or is mine just a "Friday afternoon" spay j
So what's the advantage of the tri-coat?
So what is a Tri-Coat or Three Stage paint? This basically means that there is a mid-coat between the base coat and the clear coat. The purpose of a tri-coat is to add depth or to give it a unique look. The mid coat can consist of a tinted base clear (translucent) or a base clear with pearl in it. It is not intended to cover the base coat color, but rather tint the base coat, which will allow you to see the basecoat. This can give you the illusion that there is more depth in the paint job. This is the same thing as candy paints, which have been around for years. Except now, many of the three stage paint colors are come on the cars new from the factory.
