Metallic pinging under car from heat?
I noticed my GL450 with on/off road package seems to continuously make metallic pinging/ticking/crackling type noises coming from the middle of the underside. Like if you stand next to the driver or 2nd row doors while it's parked and running you hear it from underneath.
I'm used to hearing such noises from my other cars after you turn them off, especially from the engine area. But this GL also makes them all the time when its running. Is this normal for this vehicle or a side effect of the skid protection plating? Would like to hear from anyone else with the on/off road package whether they hear anything or only just normal engine noise when standing next to the car after it's warmed up.

Ran the vehicle quite a bit today.....did not hear what you are hearing EXCEPT on engine off and cool down in progress.
