Tire pressure

Tire pressure
There are two separate and different recommended tire pressures on my '13 GL450. My tires are the standard Continental 275/55 R19's.
The sticker inside the front door says 39 front and 47 rear (cold). The sticker near the fuel cap says 32 front and rear.
Which is better?

For GL/19" My customers "choose" to run "around" 36-38 PSI - every 2 lb will give you a difference in drive feel - with going "up" giving you somewhat better tread life..

I started at 44 went down to 35 and worked my way up to 40psi on my 63. This feels the best for me with 30/70 hwy/city. By the way, RENNtech also recommended 40 but, had to work through it myself.

I recommend you check the tire pressures carefully, especially now that those of us in the Northern Hemisphere are heading into cooler weather and especially if your vehicle is parked outside overnight.
The Continental tires seem very temperature sensitive. I'll use the TPS first thing in the morning and they usually show 38 PSI all around, but by mid-day they are 40+. When I come out from lunch the tires on the sunny side of the car can be as high as 42. Presumably, hard and fast driving will add a few more PSI due to frictional heating. Overnight in the garage the tires cool uniformly and are at 38 in the morning.
Once you are satisfied with the pressure, you can recalibrate the TPS. It's one of the options on the driver's display.

If you're running 38 psi, you're most certainly not going with the pressures listed on the fuel door unless your fuel door sticker says something different from mine. My fuel door sticker says 32 psi all around for normal loads and 36 front/44 rear for max load.
I'm not suggesting one pressure is better than another. 38 may be just perfect. All I'm saying is that at 38 you're not going by the fuel door (again, unless your fuel door says something different from mine).
