GL550 Ordered

First time poster and looking for support until the car gets delivered in early April. I recently decided to trade-in the wife's JX35 after too many little small problems and rattles. Wife didn't mind the CVT, but I was never a big fan of it. We were only able to test drive a GL 450 and it felt great, so I figured that the GL550 will only be better. I got $5000 off MSRP on the car listed below and it is scheduled for a March build. Can any GL550 owners verify whether the heated steering wheel option comes with an all leather steering or it is just the normal wood wheel with the leather parts heated. I am hoping that it is all leather.

- Cinnabar Red Metallic
- Almond Beige Leather
- Brown Satin Ash Wood Trim
- MB-Tex Wrapped Lower Dashboard
- Rear Sunshades
- Panorama Sunroof
- On/Off-Road Package
- Heated Steering Wheel
- Active Curve System
- Power Easy-Entry
- Heated Rear Seats
- Heated Washed System
- Drive Assistance Package

All leather when you order the heated wheel. And, it works quite well.

That's great news. Personally not a big fan of wood steering wheels. Thanks!

I am pretty sure that Keyless Go is standard in the 2014 GL550.

A gaggle of MB's
First - especially on GL550 make sure the dealer can provide you a Mercedes PO# as verification of your order - GL550's are tight/tight and you want a confirmed order with Mercedes PO# - and not a "lucky-lottery" kindof order/not-really thing.

I would make two suggestions:

1st - EZ-Entry can be a convenience, or it can be a curse - entirely dependent on 2nd row passenger fitting - since headrest style for EZ-Entry is different than headrest style for non-EZ-Entry. I strongly recommend test fitting before your order "locks down".

2nd - you have a beautiful GL550, and your GL enjoyment can be enhanced with a hand-cut/hand-applied 3M VentureShield invsi-bra for the front nose - not a pre-cut lit - will run about $800 with the right installer - again, NOT a pre-cut kit install arranged by the dealer. In Chicaog area there are several shops - use 3M Venture Shield installer web tool to d a search, Certified Installer is best - and again, you are looking for hand-cut/not-computer-cut-kit installation. Maybe Design Shielding in Downers grove as one..

Thanks for the suggestions! I will look into both the EZ entry and the 3m bra. As far as the order is concerned, I do have a copy of the Mercedes order sitting in front of me and it has a PO number. This is my 9th car from the same dealer, so they take care of me pretty well.

I have 2013 GL550 with the EAZY-ACCESS option and while it is somewhat helpful to have the seat power fold it is not as helpful as one would expect. You still need to manually folder the seat back down into position and the issue about the headrests is a real problem for smaller children. We also occasionally hit the button by mistake and you cannot stop the process once pressed. If I had it to do over again I would pass on this option.

I deleted the power easy entry and don't miss it. Although my husband couldn't get the seats down the first time he tried because he was sure there was a button some where.

The headrest settings work great without the limitations of the Power feature.

+1

on mine the seat manual latch behind the second row catches the stupid seat belt every time it goes up and it's a mess. probably just a design oversight, but thankfully i only have third row passengers when my in laws are in town and we put the kids in the back.

my X164 didn't have the power fold and it was perfectly fine. like others mentioned, it's harder to raise the seat than lower it, and all the power button does is fold the seat, so it doesn't help at all with raising.

Is the lighting package standard on the GL550? It's a must have.

Just got off the phone with my SA and he told me that the car is now scheduled for a 2nd decade March production. Any idea what is the actual start date for 03/2D? How long do these cars take to manufacture and when do you think it will get to my dealership in the Chicago area? Thanks!
