A bit of insight here - "if" the GL has the "rear seat entertainment pre-wiring" - then the dealer can hack thru the front seat back cover to mount one of two choices in Mercedes system.
1) "Accessory" Mercedes DVD system - each screen has it's own DVD player - or one of the rear DVD's can play thru both
2) "Factory" system - which is exact equipment that is installed at the factory - one rear center console DVD player (can play one or both screens) and abilit to play DVD from the front entertainment to rear screens.
Parts wise - $2K and $3K roughly - then a fistful of dollars for install on top.
The reason you find fewer rear DVD systems is that nowadays there are at best only justifications for rear DVD's with the explosion of personal electronics for kids:
1) have rear DVD as "punishment" when acting up your pull the kids real game gear
2) ages 2-4 where you want to put a movie back there and control from the front
