Tailgate not closing

I don't know if anyone has had this happen before, but have had 3 or 4 occasions where the tailgate will not latch. You don't hear it click and you can lift it back up with your fingers manually. Today was another occasion and for the life of me I couldn't get it to latch. I left the car running for about 20 min from the cold weather and after giving it a go about 8-10 times, finally latched and stayed shut.

I said something to my Mother in-law who also has a MB and she asked if I had the rubber weather tech mat in the back. I do, and now realizing this could be from that. I had thought of that earlier and I pushed it forward but it continued to do it.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has had any issues and or if anyone with a weather tech mat has had issues. Thanks in advance!

The X164 had many issues with this, but I haven't heard of it in the X166. It could be an adjustment is needed, but check on the mat first.

Thanks JoeMA...oddly enough just today my tailgate won't open. Will look at that thread and see the results. Will be calling the dealer tomorrow. Thanks!
