Just Ordered!

Hello all,
I just ordered a new GL 350 BT and am excited.
Thanks to all who have participated here, it helped in my build....
Polar White
Almond Beige Leather
Burl Walnut
Premium One
Parktronic with Active Parking Assist
Lighting Package
Multicontour Seats
Heated/Ventilated Front Seats
Panorama Sunroof
Heated Steering Wheel
Active Curve System
Adaptive Damping System
20" Twin 5-Spoke Wheel
Trailer Hitch
Keyless Go
Lane Tracking Package

I test drove the 450, the 350 Blutec and the 550 (mostly to see if the Active Curve System was worth it to me, it was!)
The diesel was awesome.
I have a late April build and my dealer Tom Masano in Reading PA gave me a fair price and a fair trade for my 09 535Xi SportWagon
We can't wait.....

A gaggle of MB's
I would suggest two additional affordable options right away - before factory "locks down" the order:

1) MBTex "wrapped lower dash"
2) heated windshield reservoir

Recheck if your Parking Assist Package has been ordered including Surround View - there are (2) options packages one with, one without.

Personal taste - Mercedes photo's and rendering do not do it justice at all - FYI the black Anthracite wood trim is stunning - especially with matching wood/leather wheel.

Keep the beat !

Congrats! We may be doing the same in the near future. I did not see the active curve and dampening control on the MB website. How much do these options cost?

Thanks,

After a bit of research I am pretty happy with my choices, thanks for your suggestions though. As you can see I was aware of the special order options,(found here on mbworld, thanks all). At 82K and change I think the price/value combo I have chosen is just right for me. Esthetically as well.
The most important special order option was the active curve system with the adjustable shock damping. I was a Porsche Club driving instructor for a good bit and the vehicle dynamics with this package blew me away. Imagine quite spirited driving in a 5,000 lb + truck!! Crazy fun.

There is a $250 special order charge SPC and $3700 US for the Active Curve System Package, 468

Search this forum for 2014 order guide and you will see the cost of all the other options as well.

I saw an order guide just now doing the search. Few questions:

1. It lists active curve for $2900 but you said it is $3700. Did something change?

2. The beginning of the order guide states "active curve system moved to special order". Was this standard in the 2013 models or was it a non-special order option?

Thanks!

2014 GL350
In order to get the Active Curve System, you would have to get the adaptive damping system. The total cost for both would $3700 plus the special order options charge ($250).

I ordered my GL350 and waiting for a May delivery. I am going back and forth on it. Coming from a minivan, I feel its already sporty enough without the Active Curve/Dampening options. I dont know if I want to spend another $4K on it. Is that really worth the cost?

That is definitely a worthwhile question. I already have ours spec'd to $80k without the active curve option. Primary use is commute and family hauling, not driving it as a sporty SUV. So the special order charge...they charge $250 for EACH special order item? If I order black headliner, lower MB tex wrapped dash, then I get charged $250 twice? Pretty lame as why not just have them as options people can order instead of "special order" just so they make an additional $250 per item.

I believe its one flat fee of $250, whether you get 1 special order item or 10.

It was for me, in fact it was the deciding factor for our purchase. The comfort of an S class, the handling of an 911, (well not quite)

I have owned 3 GL450's since the first model in 07….. the Active Curve system is appealing , BUTTTTT…. my 2013 suspension and other attributes are so far ahead of my original 07 and even my 2011, that I am glad that i did not spend the extra on the active curve. YES…I would rather have it than "active park system" but on the other hand….I'm not going to throw this beast into the curves that hard…. I do that in my Vette! What I really like is the "crosswind stabilization program" that came standard on the vehicle….. I really do notice the benefit of that!
