I just purchased a redline which is not detectable and connected my other V1. Will just hide the V1 and use redline when back in Canada. I chose the 3rd option which is appear in court and plead my case. Hopefully they see my point and give it back to me instead of admitting guilt and paying the fine.

Guys,

I have a W166 (GL63) with identical overhead control panel... I tapped the exact same wires (Red/Blk & Brown) in Nanook's diagram (which appear to be the power for all the overhead lights: vanity mirror and interior). However, I was working hastily and I managed to short the 2 leads together. Now the overhead lights don't have power and when I measure those wires with a voltmeter, it is indeed dead. For the life of me, I can't find the fuse that controls this circuit! Anyone run into the same issue before? I sent a message to Nanook to see if he knows.

Thanks in advance,
Sam

Here you go. All fuse buses.
I believe the one you're looking for may located in F33, but you may want to double check.

Wow, GL owners use radar detectors still? I thought I was the only one these days. When I was searching for a detector a few months ago I saw alot of references toward Waze which I'm not interested in at all.

I use those taps in the mirror too but I'm sure it will bite me in the butt one of these days when my GL doesn't start because I forgot to turn the detector off. I miss the remote unit I had in my ML.

Thanks Neurobit... I also believe that's the block that I need to look into. However, when I went to try and get access to this pre-fuse box next to the battery, it was too daunting (battery and maybe even passenger seat needs to come out!) So its off to the dealer next week:

For all others in the same predicament. I spoke to Moir local MB shop foreman today and he advised that we CAN tap into the passenger side console fuse box and any of fuses 19-22 will work for the RD. He did advise that they do not shut off immediately and may keep power to the RD for 15-20 minutes. The fuse box under the drivers side second row can be used but a longer run. Fuses 51or 52 can be used as switched power source.

I am trying to hardwire install my Dash Cam, and tried to find switched power in the overhaed console.
I was not able to find any switched power wire,

I wanted to test the - red (hot) and brown ( ground) - wires to see if these are time delayed as some have suggested.
I tapped these two wires and wired in a VERY low draw LED to see if the power to these lines do turn off with a delay.

The LED does not turn off even after 2 hours after being parked.

So I am left with no other option than to wire the Dash Cam to the passenger side, under the dash and then to the Lighter plug, which I know is Switch on power.

Does anyone else have any other solutions?

Are you wanting to tap in to for a RD or dash cam_ If radar, and maz be the same amp needed as dash cam, the easiest place for me was the front passanger side fuse panel, 19_22, with running the cord a short waz along the top between windshield and headliner, down the front pass side pillar, and right into the fuse panel. Prettz easzz and straightforward.
