Bike rack on trailer hitch

I am looking to attach a bike rack to the trailer hitch that was factory installed on my 2014 GL450. i need the specs on the receiver size and the max. tongue weight. I am unable to find this online. Any help woulds be appreciated.

It's a 2" receiver. I have a 4 bike rack from previous cars that fits perfectly. I think it is a Yakima and has a tilt down feature so you can open the hatch with the bikes strapped on. Tongue weight is negligible for this setup - or were you asking about that because you plan to tow a true trailer of some sort?

bike rack on GL 450

Thanks so much for your reply. I asked about he tongue weight, which is a new term for me, because the Thule web site asked for it in determining which bike rack would work. It makes sense, I supppse , to know how much weight the hitch will support vertically in determinng which rack to get, since that is its orientation. Unless I am misunderstanding the concept if tongue weight.

If it is a factory hitch it is strong enough for any bike rack.

Yup.

FWIW, the GL Operators's Manual (yup, there is such a thing) says 600lbs for the drawbar nose weight (i.e. "tongue").

Perfect. i should have thought to consult the owner' s manual. that is certainly more than enough to support four bikes. Thank you all for your timely and informative responses.
