I am very confused with snow tire size for my GL350. My OE tire is 275/50R20. But the snow tire for the same wheel is 275/45R20. Should they have the same size for the same wheel?

I think the problem is there are limited tires in the OEM size. You are probably getting quoted a snow tire in a size close to the OEM size. Here's a snow tire thread from last year. I'd love to put 18" Goodrich tires mentioned in the thread.

I got the size from the user manual. Here is the complete list for the 2014 GL350 tires.

All-weather tires
275/50 R 19 111 H M+S
275/50 R 20 109 H M+S (this is my OEM)

Winter tires:
265/60 R 18 110 H M+S Snow
265/55 R 19 109 H M+S Snow
275/45 R 20 110 V XL M+S Snow
