GL350 '15 or wait for '16?

Hello owners,

I'm striving to be an owner of the GL350 next year. I'm looking for a dependable and beautifully designed large diesel and all roads lead to this car. I've been reading the reviews and build stories on this forum, very cool.

Question for the group...is the GL350 due for an updated version or remodel in '16? I've read various reports online. I'm projecting to do a build next Summer (MY2016?) and I was just wondering what to expect. I have no problems with the '14 version or '15 specs, I really love the details of the car, just wanted to see if there were any known plans for '16 yet.

Let me know what you think.

A gaggle of MB's
It all depends on how much you would Enjoy Driving a GL350 over this next year .. a facelift/update such as thought to be coming for MY16 also takes you one closer to the end of the current generation

wait until the 9 speed comes out. 2014 and 2015 are nearly identical, only small changes here and there.

A redesigned GL won't happen until probably model year 2019. The X164 went from 2007 to 2012, the X166 will go from 2013 until ???, but given the popularity I wouldn't predict anythign before 2019.

There has been a 'refresh' in the past. We saw a new engine in the GL450 in MY15. I'm not sure if the engineering team thinks biodiesel is a real problem in the bluetec, or if it just needs more testing, but that could result in an engine refresh I suppose. More likely the interior could see a refresh in M16, which if it resulted in a more advanced COMAND that might be beneficial. But, MB usually lags significantly on navigation and entertainment features, so I wouldn't look for a vast improvement.

Thanks for the feedback. I would love to be driving a MY15 asap but I need to save some coin to get the features I want. I'll be ready to go next Summer so with that timeframe it makes sense to wait for the MY16 build and hopefully catch a few more updates.

I hear ya on the nav and entertainment. I wish I could just use something like a Chromecast and project my Nexus device to a nice screen in the car.

There is another thread on when is there a refresh.
https://mbworld.org/forums/gl-class-...e-refresh.html

The indications are there will be refresh in 2015 with the my2016 model according to all sources. So yes, there is most likely some benefit to waiting.
