I test drove a 15 Yukon XL, a 15 Denali XL, 15 Sierra and 15 ESV.

The 15 Sierra drove the best out of all of them. GM has not adapted the magnetic suspension well to these trucks. My 2008 ESV was certainly a smoother riding truck.

I couldn't get the wireless charging to work with my iPhone 6- and the dealer was of no help.

I also couldn't believe how much they killed the storage area by raising the floor for the third row. GM needs to get out of the 80's and dump the rear solid axle. Ford did and proved an independent can take the weight.

I really wish they still made the Avalanche. It was the most versatile truck I've ever had- I'd get one in a heartbeat just to have around...

Let me send you a PM so that this don't get off topic.

When we first moved to the tablet style display on a new model Mercedes I was feeling quite negative.

Surely it would look like we had an actual iPad or something stuck on the screen and thieves would break in to steal the tablet?

But it did not take long before it looked natural and there are now so many cars with a similar look and the displays are not a target for thieves.

There are two choices for display. Lower and with touch but it requires taking your eyes off the road, or as high as possible before blocking outward view, with separate operation by lower level controls with tactile feedback on the controls so you are not looking down at the controls.

I think they both have a place. Touch screen is so flexible but requires too much attention on the move. I have come to appreciate the high up tablet style display for anything that may be done on the move. Once you get used to it, you appreciated it.

Does anyone know there will be AMG sport packages for the GL350/450/550?

Yes I am aware that you can buy the GL63 AMG rather than putting a sport package.

The GL 550 is as close you can get to an AMG version but there are no sport packages.

Very sad that there is no body kit available for 350/450. I think canadians have that option. Hopefully the new revamp will also have that options in the states.

A very interesting thread, I like the fact that loads of research has been done by folk over upcoming models and posted into a luxury SUV summary.

On that note, has anyone considered or put a deposit down on a Tesla Model X, I have! Due 2016, my GL63 will be approaching 3 then so a reasonable time to swap.

Yes, it is sad. Some countries offer the AMG Sport package or AMG body kits on their lower models, except the US. They are limited amount that are made.

here is a 350 with the AMG body kit.

LOL yeah he kinda need some.

Sorry boss, otherwise it would look like the GL550. It will be like a Trompe L'oeil (trick of the eye).

They could have put a single chrome exhaust.

Unsure if this is posted elsewhere, but the GLE coupe was formally launched today so this interior shot of it is likely how the interior of the GL will look in a few months with its mid cycle update

This is the interior photo, and yes, this is what the mid-cycle refresh will look like for GLS:

My predictions for the changes coming to 2016 GLS:

1. New LED headlights
2. New LED tail-lights
3. Updated face with refreshed LED lights on the lower air intakes
4. Larger NAV screen with touch controller and updated Command software
5. A new interior color choice
6. Black Ash or Carbon-Fiber dash finishes

We are currently looking at GL450 but, with the upcoming 2016 GLS refresh coming, would appreciate anyone's insight.

When do you think the details (prices, specs, options, builds, etc) of the 2016 GLS will be released?

When do you think they will start taking orders?

When will 2015's become scarce?

Thanks!

Usually unofficial details available about 4 - 6 months before MY starts, which is about July/August time. Dealers should have order guide no later than May.
I saw people making orders in March for August delivery. I think you can order your car and specify details of the order couple months later when all details and pricing available.
Talk to your dealer to get more info. Also, forum member Fabbrisd1 is working for MB and can help.

Ford Lightning, GL350 and a couple of outbacks
I read on another MB forum that the dealer guide should be out in April, orders in May for deliveries in the fall. Now that red has been discontinued for 15, I'm going to ask the dealership what kind of deal they are willing to make on a 16 commitment. Is it common for dealerships to negotiate less at the beginning of the model year?

Maybe or maybe not----it all depends on local supply-and-demand and MB production availability. This might work in your favor....or not.

IMHO, it probably does not help that the '16 will be refreshed so I'd suspect you are not the only customer out there waiting for the new one to pull the trigger or trade-in.

I got out of the 2015 deal and my dealer held my previously negotiated percentage discount for the 2016.
My 2015 was due in May but will wait till about September for the 2016. Dealer thinks 2016 will be about $1,000 to $1,500 more than the 2015's MSRP and will add that once he gets final pricing details.

Im thinking of buying the 2016 glk (c) - timing likely works for me - however im reading mostly negative comments on styling vs current GLK. I also like lok of current model but wonder what other updates improvements i will miss if i forego the 2016 in favour of 2015? Does anyone have anything positice to say re the 2016 redo?

No problem. If nothing else, the GLC provides another data point for the possible front end "look" of the GL refresh considering the family resemblance to the larger GLE Coupe.
