Diesel vs Gas warranty price.

My dealer just informed me that the extended warranty on a GL350 cost more than the Gas engine GL's. Is this true?

Based on my experience owning a X164 diesel for five years, it's not surprising the warranty would be more. There were many issues that showed up once my GL had more than 50k miles on it that were exclusive to the diesel engine and emissions system. I wouldn't think of owning one out of warranty.

I am in the process of looking into extended warranty for my 2015 GL350.

I plan on doing my own oil changes, AdBlue refills, and possibly brakes when the time comes. Will this void my warranty in any way?

Your warranty is not voided, but you need to keep receipts to prove the work was done or parts were purchased.

I'm not surprised the diesel warranty is higher. Looking at forums it was clear that a large number of the power train issues being posted were specific to the diesel.

I will be buying the EW for my GL350. Just a note, shop around, prices vary greatly.

The diesel will get better mileage but the savings will be far offset by the much higher maintenance costs. The 350 has some seriously expensive problems that the gas versions do not have. Unless you tow, there is no way I would by the 350.
