Splitview questions

I'm looking at a pre-owned 2014 that has splitview. I've only seen videos online about it, but never in person. Car is out of town so can't just go check it out. I see that it's no longer an option on the 2015 models. Curious why they dropped it.

For those of you that have it, is it something you would avoid? Is it a deal breaker?

If the car also has RSE, can the passenger and the rear passengers watch the same video? And can the passenger control the DVD functions? One thing I hate currently is that I can't see what my kids are watching in the back to change the DVD or to hit "menu" or "play" or whatever.

Don't think many people ordered it

It reduces the clarity of the screen (think half of pixels go to passenger side), likely hard to tell from the driver's seat, but still does it nonetheless

A gaggle of MB's
Please download COMAND manual from mbusa.com Owner's Section - Under Splitview (small section) then under Rear Entertainment section - front source feed can be selected at the RSE, then video controled from Splitview/Passenger DVD mode - from Splitview source - only headphones can be used

Splitview

Yes i have split view and rear entertainment, Splitview helps the passenger see the movie and help the kids with the menu functions as well, this is especially useful to operate the dvd menu when car is moving and the driver screen goes blank. We use split view on long journeys so passenger can enjoy the movie as well. It does split pixels with both driver and passenger so resolution goes down but for me its still fine on the move. As to the RSE you can play movie in the command and watch it on all screens, playing the dvd in the rear player lets you see only on the back screens i believe. The remotes are pretty good to control any screen and command as well. you get 3 of them.

Please understand Splitview $1000 MSRP Option 867 is available for build for both 2015 and 2016 GL's - requires Premium 1 COMAND.
