Exterior Temperature Sensor
After a week of rain it felt good to leave the garage door open with the front of the GL facing out into the afternoon sunshine.

Imagine our surprise when we left for dinner to see the exterior temperature sensor display 118º! The air temperature was about 85º, the GL hadn't been driven for several hours and the only source of heating was sunlight on the front of the car. After a few minutes of driving on our way to dinner the displayed temperature dropped to the expected air temperature.
Where is the exterior temperature sensor and is it typical for it to be this sensitive to heating from sunlight?

It's not a "comfort" thermometer - it is a road surface air temp sensor - think of it as a "glare ice" temp detector - and due to that nature sensitive to direct-sunlight-sitting, yes it will heat up..
