Please help - new 2014 cpo with water in fuel

Need advice - we just purchased 2014 gl350 - while traveling thru Ohio my wife filled up tank at a sketchy (her term) station. Fuel filter light came on after couple hours - long story short dealership is saying tank has to be removed, lines flushed, both filters replaced - to the tune of $1900.

Does any of this make sense?

Major problem in that my wife's friend picked up the tab for the fuel but paid in cash - no receipt

Unfortunately this is a real thing and the only real fix is to flush the entire system.

Brings back bad memories for me also. My original 07 320 had similar results after filling up at a "rugged" diesel truck station in rural Florida 3 years ago. Had to replace both fuel filters twice over 2-3 month time period until all the debris was cleared, although never had to drain and flush the system.

Heed your intuition-if the station looks bad, stay away.
