How to Remove Service Indicator Message

I've searched the forum but cannot find a thread on this issue.
Had my 20,000 mile service, early, at a non dealer station. Now that the car has reached 20,000 miles, routinely getting message that service needs to be done.
Is there a technique to permanently remove this message from showing up on my screen, or must I go to the dealer to have them remove it?
Thanks...

The next time you use an independent have them reset this for you. I'm very surprised they didn't.
