Active curve system

Active curve system

So is this just the Active body control the old sedans used to have that just broke down back in the days??

is it worth it or needed?

I manage fine without it, but yes, I would say it's worth it. I haven't heard of one breaking down yet or in need of repair.

I would have liked to have been able to test drive one with this system. I found it to be non-existent in the CPO inventory though, probably because of the cost. My GL feels big in the corners, unsurprisingly.

The video in the media section of the link Chedman posted above is exactly what it feels like driving on really bumpy country roads. During the test drive my two year old proclaimed that this was the "wobbly car", which to her was a good thing.

My opinion.........
I have it on my GL350 and I think it is amazingly good. My GL corners flat and securely, no body lean. It is comfy and smooth on the straights and perfect in the turns. As far as test driving goes, I tried the GL550 which has Active Curve standard in order to compare the truck with and without it. I think the ride and handling with Active Curve is the most distinguishing positive feature this GL has over its' competitors. The MB engineers really hit it out of the park on this one.
I wouldn't buy one without it.

so when it breaks, what needs to be replaced, is it like replacing the entire shock units like back in the day mercedes....is it gonna kill me after warrenty....we keep cars long time...really long
