Silver door pins - GLS version
I stopped by the dealership this week and saw a GLS 550 on display. I noticed that the car had silver door pins but they weren't the AMG versions. They still had a plastic feel to them but a much better upgrade to the cheap black ones that we have.
Questions is, will these fit in our Cars? I assume this will be a cheaper alternative to the AMG door pins.

I've been interest to replace the black ones in my 13 GL for some time, and wonder if they're just screw ons and/or pressure fit. I tried twisting the drivers doorpin with my hands but it wasn't breaking loose...may need pliers? Not much info or reports on people changing it out, and I remember reading some years ago that someone mention the front being installed different than the back, but I'm not certain if that's correct or not...

I too was interested in replacing the nasty cheap black ones on my 13 GL550. I ordered a polished aluminium set from eBay from a seller based out of CA, and to my surprise both the front and rears were easily removed by putting a small channel lock on them and unscrewing them loose. The new ones screwed right on, with and look awesome.
I was going to go with the AMG ones, but heard they were substantially shorter than the plastic making them almost flush with the door panel or even recessed. i have attached photos for your viewing, unfortunately i didn't take pictures of the rear but they are pretty close to the front.

I am about to jump on a set...looking at one on ebay which is stainless with amg logo on the top. The set lists the front pins as being longer than the rear pins.
I also see other pin sets on ebay, but they list the front and rear pins being same length.
Would it matter either of these kits to go on x166?

Here's the link to the OEM silver pins like those found on the GLS for those interested.
I've contacted the seller and they mentioned that they're compatible with the x166, but that that the trim ring may have to be swapped as these pins may be a tad larger than the ones than the stock black ones. They were not sure though.

2016 GL550
I purchased the OEM ones designed for the 2019 at the dealer but they did not fit my 2016 because It was the wrong inner portion. (might have been an error in ordering) So I purchased a set of all aluminum ones on Amazon and they look similar to factory but are solid metal. All four turn/twist off on a '16 and the new ones screw right in.
only $13
Yes, the above fit my model and year in spite of the product description. I don't recall how the research went but I was sure they would fit when I ordered

Are you saying these OEM pins will not work?

They may work. The OEM ones I got at the dealer didn't have the correct inner portion for my vehicle ...could have been the failure of the parts guys.
Since I didn't want to play any more and could get real metal ones for $13, I just got those.
