2015' GL450 - Pull the trigger?
Looking at trading my 14' E350 (loaded to the gills) for a 15' GL450
Dealer is asking $62,900 with just over 6,100 miles.
The word is, this was owned by a local MB exec.?..B.S.alert??? Dealer loosely threw around this may be a Brass Hat vehicle. This GL is absolutely mint mint mint condition. She test drove soooo nice. Though I have read many stories about these vehicles and to stay away b/c abuse, bad break in practices, etc...though I have a little hard time thinking a GL would be abused, could certainly understand an AMG model fitting into this category of drive it like you stole it.. Maybe I'm being a bit naive. Suppose negotiating a free super warranty could mitigate future issues, does MB offer that?
On to the car, Im struggling here, it has many options, but no logic 7 sound package (I am a big sound guy) and does not have the "active" lane keeping assist which I have grown to LOVE on my E350. It just vibrates the steering wheel - but no annoyingly short though extremely gratifying autonomous driving.
Though has a few good options included. See pic.. Premium 1, keyless, pano roof (really don't care about), trailer hitch (a must), lighting (is an absolute must), appearance (a must), park assist, lane keep assist.
You guys think this is a good deal? It seems to be priced fairly competitive among 15's in the area. I'd like to think there would be some wiggle room still.
I started out looking for a 14' with the options I'd like to have but am having a heckuva time finding one. This is more $$ than i wanted to spend, buuut that 6k odo keeps drawing me back.
Trying to post pic's...
Thoughts????
I think there are some threads on here where people have been very skeptical of low mileage vehicles. I can't really give you any advice there. Also I asked the dealer to take off the front plate and repair the holes on my CPO. You may want that if your state doesn't require front plates. Looks better IMO.
Our family is growing and I dearly miss having the utility of an SUV/Truck and there's not much on the market I like otherwise. We have an ML in the family, don't care for it much, anything smaller would not be of interest. I don't want another Truck - The GL fits the bill quite nicely for the purpose i'm trying to fill - sparse trailer hauling, medium freq. need for med/large suv-ish capacity, and my snooty nature of wanting to be as comfortable as possible! lol.
Good call on the plates, NC does not have reg's on front plates so that would be a great idea. Thanks!

I am assuming the factory price on this vehicle with options would have been around 75k. You should be able to negotiate 15% off from MSRP for a new, with your choice of color and options.
Factor in the CPO warranty at the current mileage, it could be a good deal, but nothing I would label extraordinary. It's not a particularly loaded vehicle.
Ill be talking with the dealer tomorrow with an adjusted offer on this silver one. Maybe it will turn into a better deal.
Spoke to another dealer earlier today about a 15' gorgeous designo - loaded GL450, His price was good - right at mid 60's with low miles. I believe it was roughly $89k total msrp. Though they apparently aren't interested in E classes at the moment. couldn't narrow the $$$ gap to a reasonable amount.. IMO. bummer.
if I can get a dealer to agree to mid/lower $60's on a 15' LOADED GL450 designo with 20k miles, this silver one seems way high in price. Almost Not really fair, its as if comparing two different vehicles when you stack so many options. Wish there were more GL's around that were better equipped...

Designo did not have a trailer hitch. - absolute deal breaker.
Silver gl - dealer is not interested in fair business. They must think we customers don't have a brain or access to the Internet - or friends in the car business. They would not move more than 2k off their inflated 62,9k tag. Found out it was an auction car they have on invoice around 51k!!
And on my 2014 E class, they think I will fall for the car loosing 20k in value in 11 months and 10k miles. Wow!
My neighbor is a big time exec for Toyota, I have no problems getting access to used car info - especially after a few beers and a non competing brand... The merc dealers here in nc are on a whole new level of douchebaggery. Second note. 8 hrs on Craigslist and I got a serious offer 6k above the dealers offer. I think I'll hold out a few more days though.
What is with these merc dealers. Wow.
Ok guys, I brought a Gl550 home with me Friday evening!

Pretty darn loaded, and great deal! I'll post more on it when I get a chance to take some pictures. Had to drive it from NJ to NC so it's covered in road grime at the moment.
Nah not the one in Cherry Hill.

Enjoy the 550... I'm a bit jealous
