I am not 100% sure of what you are saying.
Sometimes, weather conditions can cause the sensors to be unable to perform. I've had it happen with ride height sensors in heavy rain. With Distronic in snow. After I get home and the vehicle dries off, things go back to normal. In my case, there was never a code stored. So what were the conditions when this happened?

I understand the thought - but active curve operates as a different system - and active curve sensors are "force-sensors" and should not be subject to road/weather condition

I had the "active curve malfunction" code twice in one day. The system was off as the truck floated over the road like an old cadillac. Then after starting it up again, it was ok. The active curve really keeps the ride in check.

I recently ordered a 2017 GLS with off-road but WITHOUT active curve system. The reason I left it out is that I heard from several reliable sources saying the system causes more headache than its worth. In one case, the system leaked and cause the vehicle to be in the shop for about two weeks (since its such a new system and very few people are capable of diagnosing it / fixing it).
I would strongly recommend that if you go with off-road option, leave the active curve system out. Just FYI, its not currently possible on MBUSA website to take off road without active curve system, you will need to talk to an MBUSA sales person to do that.

Now this is FUNNY .... " I heard from several reliable sources saying the system causes more headache than its worth"...
The Active Curve option is probably the most under-rated option of them all.... and 1000% time more 24/7 benfit than "Off-Road" in 2017 GLS's...
Frankly - I don't know who your "sources" are... and frankly don't care... frankly they really don't know what they are talking about regarding Active Curve...

I have also had the Active Curve Malfunction light illuminate intermittently. (I'd see it during hard cornering and it would stay on for the rest of the drive. Then upon restart it would go off again until the next hard cornering event.) This behavior was exhibited on the way to a low fluid condition, which was rectified at the dealership by simply topping off fluid. No big deal.

dryrunner, what was the fix for the Active Curve Reservoir spewing the fluid out the top of the reservoir? Mine just started doing the same thing. Going to take it in this week but just curious to what the cause of the problem is.

There is the return hose and a check valve. The check valve must have failed. But the GL was in the shop for two weeks waiting on the parts from Germany. Not a very common failure I was told. He did say not common for new cars. Which leads me to believe older cars would have this failure, but then why not stock the parts in this country.

I'm getting Active Curve Malfunctions under tame driving conditions. From these posts, I I should look for fluid leaks under the hood and under the car.
Any other give aways?
I had my A service a few weeks ago so would have though low fluid issues would have been corrected then. I had a few random warnings before the service.
It's only the last 6 months or so that we've been getting these warnings. Car is a '14 550 GL we've had since 10/13 - ordered new. 70k miles.

Check for the leaks under the Passenger side front. Mine was the hose leaking also. It allowed the system to suck air at times and thus was also pushing fluid out the top of the reservoir. The reservoir is a small triangular shaped unit in the left front of the engine compartment when look into the engine bay from the front. It was all wet from the hydraulic fluid.

I had the "Active Curve System Malfunction" error come up (2 separate times during easy driving ) and took it the dealer (not where I bought it) and they said they had to replace the "module" which controls the system. Not sure where that module is located (anyone know?) nor where the part came from but took 2 full days to fix picking it up this am. I am hoping that's the last I see of that error but with all the integrated electronics, I am a realist on these matters.
Update: they replaced the module and the work order said it was seen before and that was the fix. They had to take out the drive seat and carpet area to get t it so it seems like it was a lot of work. Have not seem it yet but it's only been about 7hrs and 50 miles so I'll keep you posted. I'm also watching / listening for any squeaks and rattles and none so far.

Did the module replacement do the trick?
My 2013 GL63 has just had the ACS oil puke out everywhere. It has already been in for the recall.

I
have the same issue on my 2014 ML63 AMG
mine is leaking from the rear Valve block Unit. On to my torsion bar and exhaust. I keep adding fluid into the reservoir and the warning “Active Curve system malfunction goes away but comes back after 5-10 minutes. I have ordered the part need $650 to order and have someone install it
