Which brand of brake pads?

Needing to replace my rear pads. Was going to use the akebono's but it seems they don't make anything for the rear of '14 gl450.

Curious what people have been happy using. Most important feature is no noise. As long as it doesnt dust any more than the oem's do, I'm happy.

How much is the brake job costing you - for both parts and labor?

A gaggle of MB's
1) Please review the following thread regarding activating Brake Pad Replacement in the Service Menu - which you need to do for the rears to release the e-brake to compress the caliper:

https://mbworld.org/forums/gl-class-...placement.html

2. Your choice in Rear Brake Pads in the $40-$60 set range - yes you can get semi-metallics and/or ceramic in that range.

3, "Genuine" shop time about 2 shop hrs

4. Hand torque wheel bolts - and NOT use impact.

Keep the beat !

I went with the ones contained in the following post and am happy with them.

I was quoted about $415 which seems on par with what fabbrisd1 is saying shop time is. The oem pads themselves are not cheap.

1. I saw that post. Thanks for providing the link in case other users attempting to diy the rears have not.

2. Have you had any experience with any of the cheaper aftermarket options? Just as good, if not better than oem? Any particular brands that might dust less?

4.I personally hand torque the bolts. Wish I could say the same for my dealer. Saw the mechanic pounding them on with his impact. Still a little upset they automatically charged me $70 for nitrogen when I had new tires installed.
