Engine Air Filter Change

Can someone help with a video or step by step pictures of how to change engine air filter for x166 GL450? The videos on youtube are all for x164 and it appears the two are not the same, it is more complex for X166.

Thanks a lot,

Air Filter Change

Thanks iisnoopyii. The video is really helpful.

Successfully completed the air filter change today. Mercedes tried really hard to make this so difficult, but came out victorious.

A tip, when removing the right side filter housing remember to remove the oxygen sensor by pressing the black ring and pulling out the sensor from the fitting. It is really important so that you don't break the sensor. The housing does not come out loose and you have to invert the housing, unscrew and change the filter. see attached pic of the sensor.

For the left side filter housing, the above video provides a great explanation of removing the sensor, by twisting and pulling out painlessly.

Another piece of advice, if doing for the first time, start with the passenger side and then move on to the driver side. Mercedes rebrands MANN filters C3397.

I have, and I am a novice. The instructions are pretty much the same and I used them as a guide. I'll pop the hood and try to remember if I had to do anything else. I do remember removing the crossbars to be able to lift then housing out, but I dont recall having any difficulties with clamps or connectors.

The video looks quite different than what I see under the hood. It seems I may need to pick up a 1/4" swivel adapter though.

I just finished replacing my engine air intake filters. It is a pretty simple job even in 90+ degree heat. However, I did find that my "raw air line" hose on the passenger side was falling apart/ripped. Searching now for a replacement. Part #6420946897

Tried to remove the oxygen sensor by pressing the black ring but couldn't pull out the sensor. Didn't want to put to much force afraid to break the ring. What did I do wrong? Any video showing how to remove the sensor?

Hi djay, on the right side, just removing the sensor from the tube is sufficient? There's no need to break the clamp as well on the bottom side of the tube in order to flip the box up side down?
