Hole on roof

Am I missing a cover? Opening is only on the passenger side.

No clue what that is .. checked my '14 GL550... there seems to be a strip of plastic molding running from the middle rail support rearwards to the last rail support on each side .. what's on the other side of your car?

Meantime, I'd say you have a hole in your car! ... can't be good to be exposed to rain etc

Looks like you're missing the cover for a roof rack attachment point.

Edit: never mind, I see you have the rack already mounted. That's too perfect of a hole not to be intentional and therefore there should be a part available to fill that.

does your rack have 2 or 3 attachment points ? I can't see from you picture, but that hole looks factory...

Am I the only 550 owner with that opening on the roof? Do other owners have a cover?

It's on the passenger side near the rear rail post.

Hopefully this is a better pic

I'd say likely yes, you are

Robotic glitch at factory? How could it not be noticed?

Very strange.

So far no one (meaning the dealer or other MB online part sellers) has been able to tell my what that roof opening is or if it should have a cover.

That does not look right. Did you buy your GL new? If you did not, I would look at the history of the vehicle to see if any parts have been changed pertaining to the roof or rack rails. Is your truck with a panoroof. There is a different rail for vehicles with panoroof. You are also missing roof molding.

You are also missing the roof molding. Based on parts diagram.
