2013 GL350 check engine - Soot Particulate Sensor
At 63K miles, I got an amber Check Engine light on. ELW covered and replaced Soot Particulate Sensor (000-905-33-04). Anyone knows the reason for this? I could guess that soot built up on the sensor because of this is diesel?

No. Soot Particulate Sensor is not measuring soot that physically gets in touch with sensor. SPS is measuring differential pressure and based on that determine approximate level of soot in DPF.
Funny, I just had to replace same thing on X5 few days ago (warranty). This SCR system is developed together by MB and BMW, so same problems are plaguing both manufacturers.
