Rear command screens not turning on

Hey all,
I just bought a 2013 GL450 with the rear entertainment package from an MB dealer.
We weren't able to turn on the rear screens at the dealer because there were no batteries in the remote and I didn't think anything of it at the time since they are a reputable dealer.
I put batteries in the remote a few days after buying and found that the rear screens will not turn on. The remote will work for the front screen just fine. Took the car back to the dealer and the Product Specialist looked at it and said that there is probably something wrong with the rear DVD player. They aren't willing to offer any more assistance
I've since checked all the fuses in both cabin fuse boxes and all were OK, I also took the cover off one of the screens and tested the wiring harnesses, there is 12V to the black and red wires in the white harness. Also the DVD player in the console does insert and eject discs like it should. I would like to check all the wiring harnesses in back of the DVD player itself but I can't figure out how to get it out of the center console
Not sure where to turn now, can anyone advise me as to what else I can check to figure out what's wrong here?
Thanks!
Eric

I'll give that a shot. Will the RCA jacks work when the screens won't turn on at all? Literally nothing happens when I try to turn them on

Thanks!!

If you just bought the car every desler by us law has to give you some type of warranty. 1week 1 month something.

@Jason B
I did hook up a home DVD player to the RCA jacks and got nothing out of that either.
Funny thing though, the salesman, who is aware of the rear screen issue, texted me today and asked me to put up a review on Yelp. I just might take him up on the offer!
I did notice though that when I have the remote dial set to Right Rear screen the green light doesn't light up when any of the buttons are pressed. Can anyone confirm that should or shouldn't be the case? Going to assume that it shouldn't behave that way.
Now I'm wondering if the remote is bad.......

The remote green light should light up when you hit the buttons. Try pushing a little harder on them. My remote just the left arrow key is stuck and the green light does not come on. Called benz the next dayband I'm gettung one under warranty.

A gaggle of MB's
There are two types of MB rear system - does your have the rear DVD player in the center console - or does yours have the DVD slots in the side of the screens ?

If you have center console DVD's - then it "might be" possible your remotes are not coded to the system - or may not be the right remotes at all.

Ask the dealer - and/or PM "ItalianJoe1" here and ask him if for 2013 X166 if the remotes need to be coded to the vehicle.

No batteries is a sign - I would check on remote coding - which can only be done in the shop with Star.

Your dealer should be willing to do this - get a Service Repair Order opened with the dealer - your solution will be with Service - and you can kick up dust with Mercedes Customer Care is there is a open Repair Oder that the dealer won't address.

Don't you have CPO warranty - or if you don't what was the reason the dealer told you it is not CPO ?

Hey,
So I have the one with the DVD player in the console. The remote does work the front COMMAND screen/controls without any issues but I'll still check with the dealer as far as programming. There wasn't a CPO warranty offered on it, I actually didn't ask why. Just figured it had expired the original warranty period.
I also called the service department and left a message yesterday. Hopefully they will call me back tomorrow, I will post what they say about it.
Thanks again for the replies!

The remotes don't have to be coded, the headphones do. Are you switching the remote to the rear left or right screen? The switch is at the top of the remote.

It's not CPO'd because it was in an accident or no maintenance records are available.

I did switch the rolling switch to the individual screens, the only setting that does anything in when on COMMAND
Is there supposed to be a blue wiring harness in the back of the DVD player? I noticed white and blue on the screens and there's a blue jack on the DVD but nothing wired into it. Only large black and small white connectors. I took the trim off and couldn't find any blue harness anywhere. Also ordered a new remote so ill test that out once it arrives.
