car seats & booster seats on gl550

2nd day with gl550. i have discovered a problem. i have two kids that ride in two recargo car seats. recargo car seats are fairly big if you haven't seen them.
in any case, i was able to install them fine, but they're truly bulky. my kids are right at the tip of transitioning to booster seats (the ones without back).
however, i had my kids sit on booster seats without back support and my younger kid's head gets tip of fully raised up head rest, making him to bend his neck. no way he can ride that way. if i bring the head rest down, it becomes huge bumps on his back. and i have't found a way to stop the head rest at mid points. (i think it's fully down or up??)
similar but little different issue for my older son. he's little taller than younger one, but he's head gets caught by the head rest. like this unhappy boy on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHcv...ature=youtu.be

any advice please?

holy S##T. i just read long thread about head rest and easy entry problem for people with kids on car seats and booster seats. what a f'ing mess that MB has created. i cannot believe i missed this. who would have thought this would be a problem? i've let my kids ride on my friends' car/sedan/suv with their car seats/boosters and never ever had a problem. and i just paid fair amount to buy this car just to have the biggest problem for my kids' safety. my car does have extended warranty but i'm not sure if this can be categorized as being eligible for warranty. i don't feel like spending another set of money to get pin or clip removed for the head rest... sigh..... very very disappointed to the point i might want to sell the car back..... anyone with picture of headrest fixed with kids riding?? anything would help.

I don't see in this thread where you say what year your car is, but if you read the threads here properly you can see that the pin removal process is a simple one, even I could DIY it. It's just a little frustrating trying to get at it but there is good advice and guidance here. Just read through the threads again, even one where I post my thanks to someone for the guidance. Once you do this, the bottom of the headrest tilts in towards the tailgate when raised all the way up and thus they become sort of even with the seat back.

i did come across multiple thread about how to remove the pin. i'm going to try it myself, but if anyone could answer few questions for me, that would be great.
- does the head rest come off without cutting, unscrewing, damaging anything?
- where can i find how upholstery is wrapped around head rest so i can reverse engineer it?

i got so frustrated so i skim through the long threads, but i'll now go back and read each one of them to hopefully answer them myself. but if anyone has quick answers please share. thx.

ok. i finally did it myself. unlike someone who posted, it didn't take me 20 min. it took me almost an hour. also, pulling out the pins were surprisingly hard. it was very very tight and i had to hammer the pin out of the way from behind. trying to pull from front did not even budge. i had to have someone push the headrest against me while i was hammering the pin out. otherwise the headrest will bounce a bit and negate the hammering power. i didn't have to pill off the entire headrest. i did uncovered absolute minimum and then pulled the pin out. it was quite the challenge but i'm really glad i got it done without spending a penny. phew...... what a hassle for such an expensive car. i did it at really late night. i tried to take pictures with flash but nothing came out well. thanks all for previous posts that had helped me. hopefully this would be only problem that i'll be dealing with.

Nope. You bought a Benz. Expense and sometimes problems less easy to fix than a headrest pin arise. Not sure from your response to this little issue that you're prepared for all that, but the forum is here for you....
I hope you know about discounted pricing on extended CPO or warranty, as the case may be for your car if it even qualifies for either.
Hope your kids sit comfortably now.
