GL 550 Resonator Delete

I have a 2014 GL 550
Like many I want to change the exhaust note a bit. I was interested in having a shop cut off the Resonators and weld a stainless steel pipe.
I can't afford the Supersprint Xpipe/downpipes/tune or a new exhaust systems. Will the Resonator delete make the vehicle sound better alone? Its only a 100 bucks or so to weld some pipe up. I could not find any videos or clips with just the Resonator delete for the 550 for me to check out.

Any advice or videos clips to share would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Mal

I bought an x-pipe for my W211 from eBay for $26 - works great.

No clips with only resonator removed as I had catless downpipes added and then removed the resonator. I would assume sound of catless downpipes would be similar if only doing resonator. After the H pipe was done it sounded more like a 63.

I have elec cutouts being being installed over the next few weeks. Can’t wait!!!

I saw your video, nice....I would like it to just have a little more growl, nothing too crazy. I plan on taking it to the muffler shop this week and get them cut off. I will just have them weld two stainless steel pipes straight through. I will try to post up a video when done. I love your Panda Build. I took a few ideas from you and added them to my truck. I hope you get yours fixed soon, I saw the accident photos..

Thanks. Ours should be back in the next 10 days or so. While being fixed they are doing the calipers in red and my elec cutouts for me. Can't wait to just have the car back though.

Ok...I went and had the resonators cut off today...$150 at the welding shop...
Pleasantly surprised actually....It woke up the sleepy engine sound and gave it character. It sounds really good...Not too loud, but when revving or open throttle, it really barks!!!
This video attached is with the resonators removed only!! Still has factory exhaust and down-pipes..no tune..

I LOVE that sound! You can hear the turbo spool just enough to let you know it's there.
On my S65 I deleted the rear mufflers and it is mean. Now I have my eye on a 2013 GL550 for my "work truck" as a company vehicle. I think you just sold me.

Does anyone know if this voids CPO warranty?

if you don’t mind. What exactly did you do? Mid muffler or resonator delete ? Any luck getting the amg tips?
