2014 GL 550
Newer Model GLS Decision

Hey! I have been lurking for a while, but this is my first post. I would like some opinions.

i currently have a 2014 GL550 CPO with 62k miles that I have owned since 2016 (it had 50k miles when I bought it). I am at the point that I will need tires soon ($1200) and The CPO warranty expires in December ($2800 to extend), I have been looking around and found a CPO 2017 GLS550 with 49k miles. It was bought originally in April of 2016, so the miles seem super high for 2017, but not as high for technically a 2016, I think I can get them where I want them, but is the mileage too high, or would you be comfortable doing it knowing that the warranty is good through April of 2021 with no mileage limit?

$4k to keep the car you're in or apply to a CPO? I wouldn't worry about the mileage. That many miles in a shorter time is usually highway so not a lot of wear and tear. What are the tires like on the '17? Ask to see the VMI (vehicle master inquiry). What's been done to it? I had a red flag on my '14 GL450 vmi, rear main seal replaced. I made the dealer put the car on a lift so I could see if there was any evidence and there was none. If it's got the options you need like HID, go for it. (it's so easy to spend other people's money....)

in tandum i would say, check the carfax, make sure there is no big issues, and second go to datamb.com and check the VIN, see if it has the features you want, agree with what PJ said, if it has the LED's go for it, at nightime you'll blind everyone going the opposite way lol, but overall the GLS550 is a beast

A gaggle of MB's
1. Warranty - to clarify your understanding of GLS CPO warranty - you have the balance of the New Car Warranty thru to 50K miles (1K miles left) - then the 1Yr Unlimited Mileage Warranty starts at that 50K mark. In this example - I would recommend you research the added cost of additional 2yrs Extended CPO warranty - which would give you total 3Yrs Unlimited Mileage Warranty after 50K miles - so whether you keep yours now or move forward to this 2017 - added CPO warranty is recommended.

2. Slightly Weird - the VIN# listed in Netstar on the 49K mile rig offered in OK ends in A743875 - and on this particular VIN# so that you know the last VMI recorded service on this rig was 40K mile B Service March 2018 at our AR dealership - which included all new OE tires at that time. Technically if you are looking at A743875 please understand there will will be A Service due at 50K miles - or that Service needs to be done before delivery and recorded on VMI
