Ceramic Pads for GL 550
i am getting ready to replace my front brakes on my 2013 GL 550 and was wondering if anyone has found a good ceramic replacement pad set for the 550? Last time I replaced them when I ordered some Ceramic pads online from tire rack and they did not fit even though they were supposedly for that model. I then noticed that theirs are 3 different rotor sizes (350,373,390) I have the 373mm rotor and I think I must have received pads for the 350mm rotors After trying to find the right pads at a lot of other online sites I eventually gave up and wen to the dealer. I am very tired of the heavy brake dust from the OEM so wanted to see if anyone had a solution for Ceramic pads on the 550.

Akebono says they fit.
I can't find info saying for which exact rotor size though.

I used these for our GL550:
(Front) (Rear)
It’s a Ferro-Carbon compound, from my understanding it has slightly better attributes than ceramic in street use: it has low dust, hardly any noise and has a better bite at lower temperatures (Street use) than ceramic. A full ceramic pad offers a better low dust rating but does have a bit of noise to them and the bite is less at low temps, its intended in heavy race use applications.
I've have these pads for about 10 months and the dust is very low, I can go two weeks and the rims are not heavily covered in brake dust, unlike OEM. They do bite really well when needed and the noise is very low, overall I really like them and I will continue to buy them. I have ceramics on my CLS63 and I'm going to switch pads, when needed, the noise level is apparent.

Raybestos also offers a hybrid pad: ceramic with a semi-metallic compound. I've fitted them to a few cars recently. They are extremely clean but I'm not sold yet on their stopping ability in normal driving scenarios. I haven't traveled enough miles yet. I strongly dis-like the OE ceramic pads fitted to some of these cars.
Raybestos is called Element3™ EHT™ Enhanced Hybrid Technology.
