Trade ‘13 q7 tdi for GL350?
we bought the q7 last sept as it ended up being 10k cheaper after the goodwill money from audi usa following dieselgate, and get 60k mile 4 year powertrain warranty.
only problem i have with it...its too small! 3rd row is a joke, rear cargo area also sucks due to the sloping roof, 2nd row my head hits the ceiling.
great drivers car, get 28 real world mpg at 80, but man its not meant for 6’3” people.
everything that goes wrong on emission era diesels has gone wrong and was done under warranty, new cat, dpf, nox trap, urea tank, pump and injector.
the engine itself is good and the aisin trans is quite bulletproof. Im also very familiar working on audis, have the vcds scanner.
the benz gl-i sat in one recently. WOW, so roomy. I can easily fit in 2nd and 3rd row.
question is-do i trade and give up that sweet warranty? if anything with the aftertreatment goes bad on the benz i would just delete and tune in, would set aside $1500 for that so emission stuff not worried about. i dont know much about the power and drivetrain.
i go 60 miles round trip highway and we take lots of 1000mile road trips so the diesel is nice for the highway cruising.
only issue with trading-now the q7 values have dropped more than the GL, so its tough finding some at dealers that would require less than 1-2k out of pocket.
for ref, our q7 is a 2013 prestige,80k miles, tdi, fully loaded will all packes except air susp, daytona grey pearl on black interior.

The same diesel emission issues you had with you TDI will occur in a Bluetec. I'd wait until your TDI warranty to expires and/or the new GLS to comes out. The current GLs will be dirt cheap by then.
