Engine removal
I have to replace or rebuild the engine in my 2013 GL350. It's making a loud knocking noise and runs very rough--very long story explained in another post. I have decided to try to do the job myself. I've read the engine removal/install procedure on the WIS. They instruct removing the engine with the transmission and "front axle carrier" from the bottom of the car. This would require a lift--which I don't have. Has anyone removed the engine alone from the top using a shop crane or engine picker? Is it even possible to remove from the top?
Thanks!
