Brake pads and rotors - which are recommended?
I have been searching online and see that the are a lot of folks that recommend Zimmermann, Ate, or another German variant. However, I'm considering going with Akebono ceramic pads and Brembo rotors when it comes time to change the front brakes. I'm presently at 41k miles. Im looking to get OEM performance but with ceramic pads and aftermarket rotors, due to the cost of the Mercedes rotors.
Any feedback or recommendations?

Not knowing what yr/model - and whether you have Sport Package or not - which does determine your parts/choice for both pads and rotors... at that mileage since you are considering Front Brake change - especially at your mileage check your Rear's as well
Akebono Ceramic Pads are oft mentioned here... the updated MB OE rotors (no the early/original X166 rotors which had issues) are MB labeled Zimmerman Z-Coat rotors (whether Standard or Sport) and the updated Z-Coat rotors are frankly solid-as-a-Tiger-Tank... under Zimmerman brand they are a 1/3rd less than MB brand - and just a hair more than Brembo ...
Keep the beat !

Thanks! Sorry about that - I have a 2015 GL450 without the AMG or sport package (just the standard brakes). Advance Auto parts lists Zimmerman Z-coat rotors on their web site, but there are 2 models listed (N10001328513ZIC and N1000438034ZIC), and Zimmerman's web site is cryptic at best. Would you say that the Zimmerman / OEM rotors last longer than the Brembo's?
