NTG 4.5 command navigation
Hi. I have my American made 2013 GL 450 with U.S. version of command maps. I’m now in israel and don’t know how to get Israeli map on my ntg4.5 navigation system .
i have contacted MB in America and they cannot help me because the car is in israel so I contacted israel MB and they can’t help me because it’s an American car.
i have called Command on line and they refused to help me .
U hope someone can help me out

You need to check if the 2013 model year is still on an older maps system where updates are not VIN number specific. You can purchase a DVD with these maps online.
Otherwise, I don't see why local MB dealer would update your maps for a fee. Especially if the car is out of warranty. Offer them to sign some kind of damages release form if that is the issue.
Also, search this forum, there was a guy who sells VIN connected newer maps updates, but not sure about coverage/countries he has.

Israel maps for ntg4.5
Thank you all for the advice. It is correct that Israel appears to ‘not’ be on the M.E. or the European version maps...I also have not found which version it is on. My MB dealer had ordered an Israel map program here in Israel, but was unable to install the program due to an anti-virus security built in my Comand system, apparently. If anyone knows if there is a code or possible way to override the system, it would be helpful.

from what I understand there is no original mfg MB/Comand map for Israel
so my dealership had it created for the car but the car system did not accept it.

Well... whatever that Israeli map is or isn't - if it was developed for NTG4.5 - I would "assume" it was developed for NTG4.5 Euro Version Comand.
There is a Engineering menu in your Comand which allows change from US Version Comand to Euro Version Comand - if you don't have US discs for maps - then when you change over to Euro Version you will lose the stored US maps even if you change back from Euro Version back to US Version.
I wouldn't pay for any map that doesn't install..

FWIW, I just installed a wireless CarPlay/Android Auto box in my E350 (W212) with Command 4.7. If still I'm happy with it after a few days, I'm gonna order the same unit for our GL350.
And right now I'm thrilled. It works great, it uses the existing Command controller wheel and LCD screen, and easily toggles between CarPlay and Command. Once installed, it looks and acts OEM.
Both CarPlay and Android Auto look 1000X better than Command 4.5/4.7, IMHO, so it's an instant upgrade to the vehicle.
I'll write up the installation and post it here when I install it in the GL. I purchased it directly from the manufacturer in Hong Kong and it arrived via DHL within a week here in the USA.
