I need help/advice

It's time to upgrade my 2000 E320 wagon. My thoughts are the gl450 or Audi Q7. I'm looking for a used model. My question is, what year has the fewest mechanical issues. What is the best year? I'm thinking something between 2009 and 2015. But I dont want it do be in ths hop all of the time. I have had zero issues with my wagon, but with 250,000 miles I want to find so.ething newer and with fewer miles. I appreciate all of the help I can get. Thank you.

In general, the newer and fewer miles, the better. True for any used vehicle.

From reading the forum posts, V6s seem generally more reliable than V8s. Avoid the diesel Bluetec due to exhaust aftertreatment-related problems.

If you are targeting a GL450, a V6 was available in 2015. The W166/X166 platform seems to have about average Mercedes reliability.

Thanks for the info. I hear a lot of reviews of people paying thousands in mechanical repairs. I do not want this.

dubski, when you hear such things, ask the person you are speaking with, which engine is in their vehicle. Diesel (Bluetec) are known for significant repair costs.

What are your vehicle requirements? Do you need a third row seating feature? If you do not need third row seating, have a look at the W166 GLE350 2016 and newer. It offers a reliable, non-turbo gasoline engine and proven 7G-Tronic transmission. It's about as reliable as a Mercedes can be in the current era.

GL has more room in 3rd row if that is a concern.

GL450
I used to have a Q7, now i have a GL450. Generally the Q7 felt sportier. Owned it for 5 years (did not buy new), seemed pretty reliable. I have owned the GL for two years, so far so good. Much more quiet ride, gas mileage about the same. I don't know about repairs yet as warranty just expired (no repairs under warranty). I put less than 10k miles a year on it though...

I hope this helps you!
