I have been searching thick and thin for a 2016 GL350 with the Driver's Assistance Package. According to the MBUSA 2016 GL Class brochure, it was an option for the GL350. I tried CarMax and even though they claim their vehicle has the Driver's Assistance Package, the cruise control stalk does not have the car distance graphics, and I am not able to tell if the MB Star is a plastic or '3D'. I also tried looking through MBCPO, and through their 14 car listings, could not find any.
Is there something I am missing about this? Does the 2016 GL350 not have this option or perhaps it is in a different style of implementation as its gas counterparts?
I referenced that I had checked MB CPO in my original post; I could not find any that specifically mentioned distronic plus or had "holographic" 2/D MB Stars,

Side note (lol): How much does it cost to add distronic plus? I've read of retrofits to different classes on the forum, but nothing specific to GL class.
Not possible to "add" Distronic after-the-fact.... Distronic is a "rarer" feature so that is the reason you will need patience on your search PLUS there weren't "many" GL350's produced in 2016..
I see.. thanks! There's one I found that has all the features I want except distronic plus. Is it just completely impossible or do you just mean that it would cost a lot of money?
Hey, thanks for looking into it for me!! I checked it out and unfortunately it doesn't have distronic plus. I can tell by the cruise control stalk lacking the distance function.
I am almost convinced a total of 3 were made and that's it...
"Adding Distronic" post-factory is possible to imagine - but impossible in reality..
If you crave it - then similar to the post above - you need to put a patient 3-4 months consistent into your search - and if at then end your hands are still empty - then you might need to change focus.
I was going to spend much more on a new diesel until I found they stopped making those for US markets. Money is no object, I would pay $15K to have it. Do you think any dealers would even touch it?

Buy my GL350 2014 68000 miles with Distronic Plus and 13 months CPO remaining, if you're that desperate for a diesel with it. 2016 diesel is almost a pink elephant, and with distroplus it's finding one that also dances on the ceiling wearing a crown.
Haha, its been a couple of days, my eyes have caught an S550 albeit not diesel-, one that has the options I am looking for in a package that seems slightly more modern. After looking at various options, Mercedes could do a bit better for their GL/GLS interiors.
I did hear about the GLE Diesel Hybrid which makes sense. Diesel produces a lot more torque and has quite a bit more BTUs than gasoline. Throwing a bigger generator and making use of that added torque seems like a good option. Perhaps in a couple years.

Why have you been so fixated on the oil burner? They are a pain in the **** if you don't live in a 12 mo warm climate and use them strictly for highway miles. MB mechanics absolutely hate them with a passion. With ridiculous US pollution standards for diesels, they were doomed for failure. It's not surprising that MB finally threw in the towel on them.
Do yourself a favor and locate a GL 450 or 550 with Designo interior. Almost every surface is wrapped in fine leather, including the dash, doors, etc. The headliner is soft suede. This is a huge upgrade from the base interiors in the 450's and even the nicer base interiors in the 550's. I believe all 550's come standard with Distronic+ and you can find it on several 450's.
