Front parking sensor issues

Hi, it appears my front sensors are bad. When starting the car, front sensor indicator on the dash with light up with 2 bars on each side, beeps and then goes off. The Parktronic indicator then comes on lit meaning it is off. If I turn it back on, it’ll do the beep again for like 2-3 seconds, then the indicator comes on saying it is off again.

How do I know if it is just a simple 2 sensor replacement in the front bumper and not something else? I think if it is just sensor replacement, I should be able to DIY.

Any tips? Any info on where to buy the sensor? I assume it has to be color matched to the bumper. Only dealers sell them?

thanks.

So the biggest question. Is it covered under the CPO warranty?

Wow. Just heard back from the dealer. Seems like they are ripping me off big time. Charged me $150 diag fee to tell me it is not covered under CPO warranty coz it looks like there’s a stone chip on it. They want $420 additional to replace the one sensor.

Sounds right to anyone??

You can buy a new one off ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-NEW-Gen...4AAOSwXetZQTL1

or a generic version:

Not sure if any programming would need to be done though.

Thanks for the link. I've removed a bumper before on a different car and while it was manageable, I don't really want to undertake it on this vehicle this time. Anyway .. some good news. After "discussing" with service guy extensively, his parts person got confirmation from Mercedes they will cover the sensor. It's not even the sensor that has a stone nick on it (very very small nick). It was a different sensor altogether and even if there are scratches or nicks on the sensor, I don't see how they could exclude it. It's the bumper for one (Front) and then most likely the scratch is on the cover. Anyway, I read common failure are either electrical or damage from water, corrosion etc.

They are also going to replace the 2nd row seat motor again under CPO warranty coz' the seat never was able to flip down and retract up and out of the way. This is the 3rd time they will try to fix it. First was to replace motor. Didn't work. Second time was to lube it, didn't work. They lubed it again this time, but as with the other times, after lubing or changing motor, it works while they are trying it. It stopped working hours later.

+1 to Mercedes for the CPO warranty and something I pay which is paying off down the road. I've 1 more year warranty left. It had 2 years original warranty left and I bought 2 additional years. In essence, I'm "paying" for the repairs
